Instrumental Music is a course in which students learn the fundamentals of playing keyboard, acoustic guitar, and percussion instruments. A variety of music styles are explored as the students learn to play these instruments. The students are expected to improve at a reasonable pace throughout the year. No previous music experience is required and all instruments are provided by the school. Units of study include music history, multicultural music, music theory, analysis, composition, arranging, and improvisation. Students are evaluated through proficiency exams, written tests, homework assignments, and class participation.
