Mr. Hovey
is now in his fifth year of teaching in the Pembroke Public
Schools. He currently directs the PCMS Concert Band and Jazz
Band, and teaches instrumental music. Previously, he taught at
Apponequet High School and Coyle-Cassidy High School. At these
two schools, he directed the marching band, concert band, jazz
band, and musicals. He also taught music theory, music
appreciation, jazz improvisation, and guitar. He has taught
private lessons to students of all ages on several instruments.
Mr. Hovey has been selected to conduct the Junior SEMSBA Band
this May.
Mr. Hovey received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from
Berklee College of Music and his Master of Music degree from
Brigham Young University. As a trumpet player, he has performed
in numerous groups, including jazz bands, concert bands,
orchestras, blues bands, Caribbean bands, salsa bands, pit
orchestras. One of his most memorable performances was playing
“Hail to the Chief” for President Reagan. Mr. Hovey lives on the
South Shore with his wife, Donna, and their children.
